Buddha Dharma Law of Expedient Means Question

A Buddha Dharma follower asks Oshana: Are the expedient means that you employ the only way or the easiest way?

Questioner writes:

Hey Dave,

I appreciate the work you’re doing for others. I wish you much success in showing people the door to heaven.

[Personal identifiers removed] I received the transmission of the Dharma. One of the first realizations I made was humanity’s overwhelming desire for myth, each one of us is writing The Grand Story, and mine was perfect and the object of my utmost affection. We are addicted to ourselves.

I have been reading The Lotus Sutra yesterday and today and Buddha graces us with the Law of Expedient Means, and reveals that none of his followers of that day had achieved ultimate nirvana. Many of his followers at that point, being ashamed of their disillusionment, bowed and left.

My question is to gain self-realization, is it necessary to have the belief of enlightenment, as I did, or is there a more truthful path? Are the expedient means that you employ (I hope consciously) the only way or the easiest way? If you would help me, I would feel greatly privileged to, like you, help others find the door.

I love you like you love yourself,

Oshana replies:

Hi [name removed],

Buddha graces us ... Many of his followers at that point, being ashamed of their disillusionment, bowed and left.

Were they real seekers then? First task is to identify which teacher has the Enlightenment Transmission?

My question is to gain self-realization, is it necessary to have the belief of enlightenment, as I did, or is there a more truthful path?

Belief is not essential and could be dishonest.

Are the expedient means that you employ (I hope consciously) the only way or the easiest way?

They are the only way that I can recommend. There is no easy way. There is only the way. How well do you walk it?

If you would help me, I would feel greatly privileged to, like > you, help others find the door.

So far all that can be shared remotely is mostly on the web-pages. Real help comes fully in personal meeting.

I love you like you love yourself

Maybe you love me like a seeker
